BiPAP
Bi-level positive airway pressure (BiPAP) is a type of noninvasive ventilation that helps keep the upper airways of the lungs open by providing a flow of air delivered through a face mask.
Why you might need a BiPAP device
For patients with higher pressure strengths, exhaling against the incoming air can feel difficult, as if they’re having to force their breathing out. BiPAP machines have two settings: the pressure for inhalation, and a lower one for exhalation. The two settings allow you to get more air in and out of your lungs when higher pressures are needed.
One complaint about CPAP is that some patients find the constant singular pressure difficult to exhale against. If you’re dealing with higher CPAP pressure strengths, exhaling against the incoming air can feel difficult, as if you’re having to force out your breath. This is where BiPAP may be a great solution.
