How much does it cost?

Consultation Cost
If you have Medicare your first appointment is BULK-BILLED. If you are seeing one of our Sleep Physicians for a Sleep Apnoea investigation only then your first TWO consultations are BULK-BILLED.
Follow up Appointments have a gap of $50-$140 depending on length of consultation and if you have a valid Full Pension or Health Care Card.
Sleep Testing Cost
In-Lab sleep testing is BULK-BILLED. If you prefer to conduct the sleep test in the comfort of your own home there is a gap of $126 ($67 for valid concession cards).
* Full schedule fee is required at time of consultation/sleep test and will be processed in accordance with Medicare guidelines, rebate will then be deposited into your nominated account if listed with Medicare Australia.
How is my sleep study scheduled?
For a Home Sleep Test you will typically arrive to the clinic at 6:30pm to be fitted with the device, and return it the following morning between 9-12am.
For an In lab test you will typically arrive at 7:30pm to allow time to fill out the required documents and get settled in the room, the sleep test equipment will be fitted and we try to have lights off by 10pm. In the morning you will usually be out of the clinic about 6am.
What do I wear for the sleep test?
We want you to be as comfortable as possible, preferably a button up two-piece pyjama set instead of a night gown to make it easier for the sleep technician to apply the sensors.
For a home sleep test please arrive showered and in something comfortable you can sleep in, once the device is attached you wont be able to get changed.
Can my family or friends call me?
We request that you have your phone switched off or on silent during the night to allow enough sleep information for the doctor. If a family member has a concern or if there is an emergency they may call the lab on 1300 182 100
Should I eat before my in-lab test?
Yes, you should plan to eat dinner before arriving to the clinic. If you are a diabetic you can bring a snack with you.
Should I take my regular medications?
Yes, you should take your medications as ordered by your physician. You may bring them with you if you must take them in the evening.
Can I drive home after being fitted for the home sleep test?
Yes, although preferably have someone drive you or take public transport as this will minimise your movement to ensure the sensors stay in place.
How long will the appointment for a Home Based Sleep Study take?
Usually 45 minutes to 1 hour.
When do I return the home sleep test equipment?
Typically it’s to be returned in the morning of the test between 9-12 am, please confirm this with the technician whilst being set up with the device.
What do I do if I have nail polish or acrylic nails?
You will need to remove nail polish or any artificial nail on one finger of each hand for the finger sensor to work properly.
How long will it take for my study results to get to my GP?
We usually have the results of your test ready for your follow up with the specialist within 2-4 weeks of your test. If you do require it more urgently please inform the reception and we may be able to get this expedited for you.
What do I need to prepare for my specialist appointment?
Please bring with you to your appointment your:
- GP referral (unless sent prior).
- Medicare card.
- List of any medications you’re currently taking.
- If it’s your first appointment please withhold from any inhalers/puffers on the day of the test if your feel safe to do so (at your referring GP discretion). Please refrain from smoking on the day of your appointment.
